About Us.

Pilates in Garden is a boutique movement studio dedicated to helping clients move better, feel stronger, and build lasting body awareness.

Our approach goes beyond traditional exercise. By combining Pilates methodology with principles of alignment, movement education, and mindful strength, we guide clients toward healthier and more balanced bodies through thoughtful and personalized instruction.

At Pilates in Garden, our instructors come from diverse professional backgrounds, including dance, movement education, and alignment-focused training. This unique combination allows us to provide sessions that emphasize precision, body awareness, and safe, effective movement.

We believe that true strength begins with understanding the body. Through consistent and intentional movement, our goal is to help clients improve posture, build functional strength, and develop confidence in the way they move in everyday life.

Pilates in Garden is more than a place to exercise — it is a space where movement, alignment, and mindful strength come together to support long-term health and well-being.

A Life in Motion – From Dance to Pilates

Hazel Jang

Founder | Movement Specialist
Creator of PilaBeat Barre™

Movement has always been a defining part of Hazel Jang’s life. From an early age, she trained in Korean traditional and creative dance as well as ballet, developing a deep appreciation for the expressive language of the body. Through years of disciplined training, she discovered that movement is not only a form of expression but also a powerful way to understand and connect with the body.

Hazel graduated at the top of her class with a degree in Dance and later pursued a Master’s degree in Physical Education at Ewha Womans University. Her academic studies allowed her to explore movement from both artistic and scientific perspectives, deepening her understanding of biomechanics, alignment, and the relationship between movement and overall well-being.

Driven by her passion for movement education, Hazel founded Barbie Dance Studio in Korea, where she spent many years teaching choreography and Pilates to a wide range of students—from beginners to professional performers. She also appeared as a guest Pilates instructor on television programs in Korea, working alongside medical professionals, celebrities, and professional athletes.

She is also the creator of the PilaBeat Barre™ method, a movement program that combines Pilates, ballet-inspired training, and rhythmic movement to enhance strength, coordination, and body awareness.

Today, Hazel continues to expand her clinical knowledge as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) student in Canada while leading Pilates in Garden, a boutique movement studio dedicated to helping clients move better, feel stronger, and develop lasting body awareness.
